07:20:08 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | the new version 3.x won't let you use the full ir any compiz that is why I have the older version

07:24:09 PM | SoundPro69 | RobbieF, is there a Kodi add-on to watch you live?

07:26:37 PM | NateUK | SoundPro69 you can go to https://github.com/Cat5TV/plugin.video.category5 and follow the instructions
07:26:50 PM | NateUK | very straight forward SoundPro69
07:26:56 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | on sourceforge, how do you download from alternate mirrors once it is selected?
07:26:59 PM | Whiskey_Zero | Do you want us to Roku view also?
07:27:04 PM | w00tw00t | That is exactly what the television industry faces, they don't calculate the numbers of people recording with their DVR into actual viewers and shows get rated low.
07:27:07 PM | SoundPro69 | Cool, thanks NateUK!
07:27:14 PM | NateUK | your most welcome SoundPro69
07:27:35 PM | albertr | subscribe to - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCiu3bwoy2wcD9OYEFxuHp1A
07:27:41 PM | w00tw00t | Is there a way through the ROKU app, for you to stream the youtube video through the ROKU app, instead of how you are doing it now through ROKU?
07:27:55 PM | alpeck | RobbieF: what if you a network such a Revision3?
07:28:02 PM | alpeck | ^join

07:28:17 PM | NateUK | so like all the things on youtube hahaha
07:28:23 PM | w00tw00t | Because I do everything on ROKU when I can, so my viewing numbers havent' counted for you
07:28:25 PM | GoodGuy98 | RobbieF - do we need to rewatch the whole episode to give you the credit?
07:28:27 PM | Sparklyballs | 480 on kodi :(
07:28:45 PM | NateUK | not my fault on that Sparklyballs lol
07:28:49 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | so your screen casting will look better. heck, we can go to youtube and use the youtube-dl and dl each episode and create our own libraries, along with the thumbs up?
07:28:51 PM | lyndon | hey 480 isnt bad
07:29:02 PM | NateUK | thats the same stream from roku
07:29:16 PM | lyndon | especially on small screens
07:29:22 PM | lyndon | right
07:29:43 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | 480p should look as good as 720i shouldnt it?
07:30:13 PM | lyndon | eh..
07:30:25 PM | GoodGuy98 | I was thinking about that idea also Dooley_da_Vulcan .. Was going to suggest he point his download links to Youtube... but it is against their user agreement iirc
07:30:33 PM | Sparklyballs | hey Artyom, how is ireland
07:30:51 PM | lyndon | depends on your tv/ monitor
07:31:05 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | Just so everybody knows the zorin beta only downloads at about 180-250k dl rate
07:31:08 PM | w00tw00t | alot of hard work goes into your show!
07:31:15 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | I am sorry
07:31:17 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | lol
07:31:43 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | that is MS watching you all
07:31:55 PM | GoodGuy98 | Did you try a D/L accelerator Dooley_da_Vulcan
07:32:01 PM | NateUK | did RobbieFjust swear there saying that W word lol
07:32:12 PM | Whiskey_Zero | Haven't noticed any pops here
07:32:14 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | it isnt on my end at all, I have a 225 dl rate
07:32:21 PM | GoodGuy98 | Downthem All in FireFox is one example
07:32:57 PM | jwmp | No pops here either, but there is a strange phase-like echo on some speech.
07:33:01 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | on sorgeforce I can see where to choose a different mirror but do not see where to activate the alternate download
07:33:02 PM | GoodGuy98 | D/L accel open multiple connections to speed it up
07:33:26 PM | Sparklyballs | i hate folders on my desktop
07:33:41 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | I have had dl rates on some packages at 17mb rates
07:33:49 PM | GoodGuy98 | I use a commercial one called FlareGet
07:33:55 PM | w00tw00t | 70" :D
07:34:38 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | the nearest to me is in quabec
07:34:57 PM | GoodGuy98 | If you are on Firefox, try FlashGot and DownThem All
07:35:01 PM | Artyom | Hi Sparklyballs Ireland is terrific! Great scenery, great people, a really nice place to live
07:35:12 PM | Artyom | or visit
07:35:16 PM | GoodGuy98 | Tell FlashGot to use DownThem All
07:35:28 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | how will that increase my dl rate, just asking goodguy?
07:35:30 PM | Sparklyballs | it's one of my fave places to visit, i'm just over the water near liverpool.
07:36:16 PM | GoodGuy98 | It opens multiple connections.. each piece of the file gets it's own connection
07:36:27 PM | GoodGuy98 | It helps in most cases
07:36:37 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | I wonder if they offer it via torrent
07:36:42 PM | GoodGuy98 | Sometimes its way faster
07:37:13 PM | GoodGuy98 | It is similar to torrents.. minus sharing with others part of torrents
07:37:15 PM | Sparklyballs | Dooley_da_Vulcan: , Artyom himself is in the chat window
07:38:58 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | so you can actually configure your tools as you want to have them combining things you use together, together
07:39:31 PM | Artyom | Dooley_da_Vulcan The Zorin OS 11 Beta is downloadable from Sourceforge, so you can select another download mirror for faster download speeds. We don't have a torrent of the Beta just yet
07:39:36 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | Goodguy98, which tool do you offer
07:40:07 PM | NateUK | like single window for gimp
07:40:07 PM | GoodGuy98 | I am not offering it... Its free Firefox addons
07:40:35 PM | GoodGuy98 | I am using FlareGet.. getting 500+ KB/s downloading Zoin 10
07:40:45 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | I meant suggest
07:41:05 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | I dont know why my fingers typed offer....lol
07:41:19 PM | GoodGuy98 | Those Firefox ones are free.. I use FlareGet, but it is payware
07:41:33 PM | Sparklyballs | i prefer single window mode
07:41:49 PM | NateUK | makes it tidy to work in
07:41:57 PM | GoodGuy98 | It looks similar to a Windows one I use, so I bought it awhiel back
07:42:03 PM | Sparklyballs | or face the other way and work with your hands behind your back ShellyD
07:42:58 PM | GoodGuy98 | I cancelled it so I wouldnt waste bandwidth
07:43:08 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | I have to restart firefox to use a new plugin.... not now...lol
07:43:22 PM | GoodGuy98 | Dont forget we are streaming live video, so it will slow us down
07:44:00 PM | GoodGuy98 | I tried opening a new Firefox and it worked
07:44:15 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | Thanks, well my ISP just bumped my service from 150 Mb to 200 Mb for the same price and I test out at 225 ~

07:47:36 PM | w00tw00t | windoze on this comp
07:47:59 PM | Sparklyballs | i use limechat on os x

07:48:02 PM | GoodGuy98 | I used it under WINE a few years ago and had a few annoyances
07:48:38 PM | Guest_9321 | did you review Zorin today
07:48:57 PM | GoodGuy98 | Now I use CrossOver Linux, but havent tried mIRC in awhile.. I switched to HexChat.. works on Windows and Linux

07:49:18 PM | SoundPro69 | Good night
07:49:26 PM | NateUK | I felt Textual on Mac was a better choice but do like quassel with quassel-core in docker
07:49:26 PM | GoodGuy98 | They chatted with one of the Zorin creators
07:49:32 PM | Whiskey_Zero | Good night Robbie and Shelly, thanks for an interesting program!
07:49:33 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | Thanks @RobbieF and @ShellyD Great and FAST and seemingly short show. minus the news.. I get it

07:50:56 PM | RobbieF | correct

07:51:25 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | 2.3.2
07:51:26 PM | RobbieF | Lyndon_ we did end early because I pre-recorded the news and will edit it in.
07:51:31 PM | RobbieF | yes Dooley
07:51:35 PM | NateUK | no i create my own docker with quassel core .. I use docker-py with pyqt so i have a full gui controlling everything docker which is fun Sparklyballs
07:51:35 PM | ShellyD | http://www.zorinos.com/beta.html
07:51:37 PM | lyndon_ | ohhh
07:51:38 PM | lyndon_ | ok
07:51:45 PM | RobbieF | But we might see Zorin OS 11 on here when it goes stable :)
07:51:52 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | Thank you sir, I find PL easier than ubuntu for some reason
07:52:03 PM | SoundPro69 | RobbieF I was trying to install the Category5 video add-on in Kodi (on the Raspberry-Pi)
07:52:11 PM | MangleFox70 | going onto minetest,
07:52:19 PM | SoundPro69 | I don't have RaspBian, just Kodi
07:52:19 PM | MangleFox70 | t/quit Minetest time
07:52:24 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | Might check out 10.x just to see what it looks like, I will check it out via VM
07:53:01 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | VM makes distro testing so much easier
07:53:23 PM | SoundPro69 | So I am supposed to add a video source and then go to install from ZIP, but when I add the address: https://github.com/Cat5TV/plugin.video.category5, I can't find the zip to install in Kodi...
07:53:31 PM | NateUK | SoundPro69 you need to download the zip file from github ... copy it to the raspberry ... then go into the kodi settings and install from zip and this will install it into your video addons
07:53:54 PM | Sparklyballs | for the dockers i use from day to day NateUK, i use unraid which has a fairly decent docker management setup.
07:54:04 PM | NateUK | SoundPro69: https://github.com/Cat5TV/plugin.video.category5/archive/master.zip
07:54:12 PM | SoundPro69 | Oh, OK. Side load only... Will do. Thanks!
07:54:16 PM | Sparklyballs | i build on ubuntu VM with jenkins though.
07:55:32 PM | NateUK | because i use digtial ocean for all my clients .. and the fact you got me into docker lol I have rolled it out in a business sense... so i needed something in front of me as well as my collegues that was quick and to the point ... Sparklyballs ... ie installing django with nginx blah blah .. saves a heap of time
07:56:07 PM | NateUK | it took me a while to get gui correct to what we needed but most of the bugs are deing the death lol
07:56:45 PM | Sparklyballs | i may have to check that out NateUK because we get a lot of command liners using our dockers
07:57:38 PM | Sparklyballs | if you get a chance , drop by #linuxserver.io
07:58:11 PM | NateUK | docker-py and pyqt and qt designer ... those are what i used to create the app in python ... also one line command in the docker and using bgtunnel to make sure no ports are open to the wonderful internet ...
07:58:17 PM | Guest_9321 | Zorin 11 is the next release due in April?
07:58:24 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | is there any linux applications that require a reboot to run?
07:59:18 PM | NateUK | no Dooley_da_Vulcan not really but on occiasion it is needed maybe for Kernal updates .. or to just flush out the system .. but linux machines as a standard shouldnt need a reboot...
07:59:25 PM | lyndon_ | what other good distros have a rolling release?
07:59:41 PM | Sparklyballs | netrunner
08:00:19 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | That is what I thought and told my son in IT. Unknowingly I was correct, I believed I was, not just making it up as I went anyways.
08:00:24 PM | lyndon_ | netrunner?
08:00:46 PM | NateUK | I think my home servers have been running for about 6 months no reboot right now ... Dooley_da_Vulcan.. only reason I say that is because we lost power here about that time and the battery backup didnt last as long as the blackout
08:01:11 PM | Sparklyballs | http://www.netrunner.com/
08:01:32 PM | Guest_9321 | Antergos rolling
08:01:38 PM | lyndon_ | kubuntu based, cool
08:02:04 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | ah, that is a long time for a windows machine... how long have folks been using linux for servers? and it was Unix before that wasn't it?
08:03:08 PM | Guest_9321 | Are any of the Ubuntu variants rolling?
08:03:33 PM | NateUK | i think right now one of the most interesting is the ubuntu mate distro ... the guy who is lead in it is also in the team and running the arch packages of mate ... he writes ubuntu mate for his family because he wants the the right tools in front of people without the hassle of having to install from terminal or software center ... he has a welcome screen with many used apps .. makes it interesting his direction
08:03:35 PM | lyndon_ | looks like net runner is
08:03:40 PM | Garbee | Guest_9321: No, but Canonical is looking at making it rolling except for LTS releases.
08:03:58 PM | RobbieF | I've been using OpenSUSE Tumbleweed at home. Now there's a sexy rolling distro.
08:04:56 PM | Garbee | NateUK: With Linux 4, reboots for kernel updates won't even be a thing.
08:05:16 PM | Garbee | So if you know what you are doing, you can continually upgrade anything without a reboot (since you can hot-swap most drivers too.)
08:05:30 PM | Garbee | I think only like, Nvidia or AMD proprietary drivers will require it.
08:06:35 PM | GoodGuy98 | Garbee - If you run Ubuntu based distros, Ksplice allowed that for several years
08:06:59 PM | NateUK | Garbee: very true but I was covering my back as some are still on 3 lol
08:07:00 PM | GoodGuy98 | I think it worked with Fedora also, but not sure at all
08:07:10 PM | lyndon_ | see, this is why i like you guys. so informative =)
08:07:15 PM | Garbee | Yea, 3 will be around for a long while.
08:07:21 PM | Garbee | Just like 2 still is.
08:07:26 PM | GoodGuy98 | Ksplice worked on 3 Garbee
08:07:30 PM | Garbee | I was just saying, you *can* do it now. :)
08:07:40 PM | Garbee | GoodGuy98: This is built in hot-reloading of kernel modules though.
08:07:43 PM | Garbee | No extra stuff needed.
08:07:46 PM | GoodGuy98 | It is free for home use last time I looked
08:08:10 PM | Garbee | Ah, Oracle makes Ksplice. No thanks.
08:08:16 PM | GoodGuy98 | I know.. just pointing out no need to wait for Kernel 4
08:08:30 PM | Garbee | Sadly, the only thing I *need* from time-to-time from them is Virtualbox.
08:08:34 PM | GoodGuy98 | It is free
08:08:44 PM | Garbee | I wish we had a non-oracle solution to VMs that wasn't VMware.
08:09:07 PM | GoodGuy98 | I dont recall any obnoxious behavior, but I played with it a few years ago iirc
08:09:19 PM | Garbee | Nah, after their copyright BS with an *API* of basic stuff that they sued Google for... I'm turning my back on Oracle everywhere I can.
08:09:21 PM | GoodGuy98 | QEMU :-)
08:09:51 PM | Garbee | I'll install VBox only as-needed just to get a job done. Like running IE VMs from MS.
08:10:07 PM | Garbee | Even then, I can probably find an alternative if I put enough time in.
08:10:08 PM | GoodGuy98 | Since it's free to a home user, its not like they are getting any cash from you
08:10:20 PM | NateUK | i like boxes from gnome personally for vm's on loacl
08:10:23 PM | NateUK | local
08:10:35 PM | Garbee | It is still supporting their ludacris behavior. Which I refuse to do at any point I can.
08:11:00 PM | Garbee | Like, if the API had something complex, sure. But omg, a few if checks on boundaries and throw an exception if true... GTFO.
08:11:01 PM | NateUK | but you can use libvirt / qemu with something like virt-manager ...
08:11:17 PM | Sparklyballs | ludacris the rapper ?
08:11:18 PM | GoodGuy98 | Certainly your right, but not sure how they benefit other than some free PR
08:11:19 PM | Garbee | I'm on straight Ubuntu 15.10 atm.
08:11:33 PM | GoodGuy98 | Guess I am giving that to them lol
08:11:48 PM | Garbee | Alternate DEs always seem to fail me in some way.
08:11:58 PM | Garbee | Not sure if I can get boxes in unity easily.
08:12:28 PM | NateUK | maybe not without gnome stuff being installed everywhere which would suck having to do that
08:12:37 PM | GoodGuy98 | If I get any use out of something and it doesn't cost me money... I'll use it until something better comes along
08:13:26 PM | Garbee | GoodGuy98: I'm just a hard-headed programmer who understands that lawsuit fairly well. It is complete bull shit and the best ruling ever was overturned at every higher step because the higher judges didn't actually learn the art at all.
08:13:39 PM | Garbee | So, I am taking a hard personal stance on the matter.
08:14:10 PM | Garbee | The lower judge literally learned programming over a weekend.
08:14:11 PM | GoodGuy98 | That's what is great about Linux.. Plenty of room for all type of users
08:14:22 PM | NateUK | https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/serverguide/libvirt.html << is a bare bones vm can be used in Ubuntu desktop ... I used to use it ... but worth install virt-manager for gui if required
08:14:43 PM | Garbee | Then said exactly "The code in question is *obvious to anyone in the art*, so it isn't copyright-able." Then, every higher court just went, "Yea, no."
08:15:00 PM | Sparklyballs | again unraid has done some real work on their VM manager
08:15:08 PM | Garbee | Yea, libvert. docker works on top of that.
08:15:11 PM | Garbee | iirc.
08:15:20 PM | Garbee | Or at least used its API in its original incarnation.
08:15:33 PM | GoodGuy98 | I used to be a mainframe programmer... my friend left to work at a Hospital... They used an OS a doctor wrote playing around.. or did a ton of mods to an existing one
08:16:41 PM | GoodGuy98 | I though that was one intelligent doctor to write OS level stuff just to play
08:16:53 PM | Garbee | yea. Wowzers.
08:16:59 PM | Garbee | That would never be done today.
08:17:04 PM | Garbee | Too much IT and Legal in the way.
08:17:29 PM | GoodGuy98 | I left the job where I talked to the friend and just lost contact
08:17:34 PM | Garbee | Although, lol, most hospital software really should be written to run on Linux at this point.
08:18:06 PM | GoodGuy98 | This was many moons ago.. guessing late 1970's
08:18:15 PM | Garbee | Damn. You are old.
08:18:20 PM | GoodGuy98 | I am terrible on time frames though
08:18:34 PM | Garbee | Like, was that in your early career working on mainframes?
08:18:36 PM | Sparklyballs | 98 isn't your age is it GoodGuy98 ?
08:18:50 PM | GoodGuy98 | 64.. beats the alternative to getting old
08:19:41 PM | Garbee | ugh. I'd love to ask more about stuff. But it is almost 10 degrees (F) outside and my dog is going nuts and not coming in.
08:19:42 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | sorry was afk so the Ubuntu Mate distro, who would anyone compare it to say Point linux besides the obvious differences from the basic ubuntu vs PL
08:19:48 PM | GoodGuy98 | Yes I graduated from community college in 1972... worked in an school for 90 days and got a programming job about a year later
08:19:49 PM | Garbee | I need to go get him in. See ya'll later.
08:19:55 PM | Garbee | Have a good evening guys!
08:20:18 PM | NateUK | take care Garbee
08:20:21 PM | GoodGuy98 | Yes Dooley_da_Vulcan .. I have two versions of it installed on this PC
08:20:24 PM | Garbee | GoodGuy98: Let's try to chat again sometime. I'd love to hear more about programming back-in-the-day.
08:20:35 PM | GoodGuy98 | 14.04 LTS and 15.10
08:20:41 PM | GoodGuy98 | sure thing
08:20:44 PM | Garbee | I hear a lot of the stuff we are just spreading now was created *way* back with some of the original languages.
08:20:51 PM | Garbee | The ideas just never got mass.
08:20:54 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | does compiz work with them?
08:21:03 PM | GoodGuy98 | It looks just like old Ubuntu with Gnome 2
08:21:04 PM | Garbee | Maybe you'd know more. But my dog is more important.
08:21:21 PM | NateUK | Ubuntu Mate is a good get he work done and easy .... it is gnome 2 in a nutshell ...
08:21:41 PM | NateUK | but with all the goodness of gnome 3
08:21:52 PM | GoodGuy98 | I think so, but I have a really cheap video card. nVidia 8600 GT.. and I dont care all that much about fancy bells and whistles
08:22:34 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | I like the 3dcube for moving around quickly
08:22:34 PM | GoodGuy98 | I am running Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64-bit and that has Compix iirc
08:22:47 PM | GoodGuy98 | Go look at their Release Notes
08:23:39 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | will do
08:24:08 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | may I ask what is Linux 4
08:24:15 PM | GoodGuy98 | http://linuxmint.com/rel_rosa_mate_whatsnew.php
08:24:21 PM | NateUK | kernal 4
08:24:28 PM | GoodGuy98 | Kernel starting with 4
08:24:38 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | ahh, much better?
08:24:42 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | differences?
08:25:07 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | anything obvious for new users
08:25:09 PM | GoodGuy98 | The "Desktop Settings" tool now supports more window and compositing managers. Other than the traditional Marco, Metacity and Xfwm4 window managers, you’ll find the following options:
08:25:10 PM | GoodGuy98 | Openbox: A very fast and very light window manager.
08:25:10 PM | GoodGuy98 | Compiz: One of the most visually impressive window manager available for Linux.
08:25:10 PM | GoodGuy98 | Compton: A compositing manager which can be used in complement of Marco, Metacity, Xfwm4 or Openbox.
08:25:23 PM | GoodGuy98 | That was from Mint 17.3 MATE
08:25:25 PM | NateUK | oh and Ubuntu Mint does come with compiz .. just read the link GoodGuy98 posted lol
08:26:18 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | I am opening windows as I type
08:26:26 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | Thank you, you guys
08:26:46 PM | GoodGuy98 | I installed Mint 17.3 MATE on my wife's old PC
08:27:23 PM | GoodGuy98 | She is a happy camper.. doesnt really do much besides Facebok, browse the web and some letters and emails
08:28:01 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | I often go to install applications and they will offer default installs for certain distros, and point linux is not one of them
08:28:13 PM | NateUK | lol GoodGuy98 .. we call that a tablet on steriods (tablet = pc in this case) lol
08:28:26 PM | GoodGuy98 | Point Linux is Debian underneath
08:28:34 PM | GoodGuy98 | Lol NateUK
08:29:49 PM | GoodGuy98 | Most Debian stuff should work.. I get a few problems with software on Mint.. I think it's because it is looking for Trusty as a distro name and gets Rosa
08:29:56 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | I know and even at that I have had issues where I cannot meet dependencies becaues of libraries, that from what I can find do not exist. as if someone had a typo when typing out the dependencies list.
08:30:22 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | I find a lot of jessie stuff works great then.... nada on something
08:30:43 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | like it has a mix of stuff it has or a mix of what it needs
08:30:47 PM | GoodGuy98 | I think the thing it is looking for is within a lib named something else
08:30:52 PM | NateUK | time for sleep .. take care all .. have fun ..
08:30:58 PM | GoodGuy98 | Night NateUK
08:31:02 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | Good nite NateUK
08:32:51 PM | GoodGuy98 | Better run myself.. Night all
08:33:32 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | Well is there anyone left ....lol
08:34:53 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | I often find myself to be last and alone..... I guess it is all good
08:39:10 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | Hello ShellyD
08:39:10 PM | Dooley_da_Vulcan | you haven't left yet huh?
