It's a real pleasure to welcome Sasha back to Coffee Break, and she talks about all the junk food she gets to make with her new Kitchen appliances. Winter hasn't struck them yet. Doug's keyboard for RasPi saga continues. He's up to three tries now. Doug also explains NOT to use essential oils in a diffuser if you have a cat. bp9 and Solbu discuss his encrypted client/server solution to see if it is enough to prove the identity of the client. Peter continues to have antenna woes but it is working well enough for him to talk to Ceylon and Oman. bp9 is joined by Sasha, Doug, Peter, and Solbu.

bp9
- Re-iterates that he is doing a component level repair on the garage door opener
- Does not know if IC1 (part number Y26785B) is any good.
- If IC1 is bad, then will most likely will replace it with an arduino.
- Discussion with Solbu: If I use just public/private keys of user and server, is that enough to prove identity?
- Client has its own private key, and server public key
- Server has server private key, and client public key
- If client encrypts with server public key, server can decrypt payload.
- When server encrypts response with client public key, client can decrypt response.
- Is that enough to prove to the server that I am who I say I am?
- Solbu says bp9 should sign, and bp9 agrees, but cannot sign reliably every time.
- bp9 plans to make client respond to challenge from server, based off random numbers to prove identity (did not mention in meeting).
- bp9's parcels take 3 days to ship across the country, then three weeks to ship from the central post office in his city to the local post office!

Sasha
- Has the weekend off, so dropped in say hello.
- Dave gave her a stand mixer for Christmas so she is learning to bake!
- She has made pizza successfully :-)
- Wants to make doghnut holes and plans to fry them :-)
- Her work mates are not interested in her healthy options so she has to make junk food :-)
- Also got a Sodastream for Christmas and really likes boiling down blueberries, honey, and lemon peel to make a syrup for the Sodastream.
- Likes to make Ginger Ale, and bp9 would love to have that recipe!
- Dave and Sasha got the house all ready for Winter but Winter has not fallen upon Newfoundland.
- It's still green grass outside.

Doug
- The saga of the Keyboard for the Raspberry Pi continues!
- He has tried two or three keyboards and is charging his latest version now.
- bp9 suggests a RasPi 400 (with built-in keyboard) but that probably won't work: Doug wants the RasPi under the TV and the keyboard separate.
- Bluetooth should work as it has range 10 meters (30 ft).
- The "smoke" behind Doug is a vaporiser.
- Since he has a cat, he only uses water.
- Don't use essential oils in this as they can harm your cat!
- We discuss Raspberry Pi keyboards, and Sasha suggests readong Amazon Comments. Solbu says you cannot generally trust comments as they are likely fake, or bad comments removed.
- bp9 uses a "Think Outside the Box" bluetooth keyboard but does not know if it will work with Raspi. But it does not have the integrated mousepad that his other keyboards have.
- Doug has a "remote organizer" just out of shot for his keyboard and mouse.

Solbu
- While discussing encrypt/decrypt, suggests bp9 get advice from someone who actually works on these libraries.
- Maybe bp9 is not using the library correctly.

Peter
- We get to check out his curtains. Lights are on but nobody is home :-)
- Asks if bp9 tried his password program. bp9 has not because it is a windows only program and only runs linux here.
- Updates us on his antenna switchbox, the seller canceled his order - again.
- Looks like he will have to home-brew his antenna switchbox.
- Despite that, his ham radio station is working OK, he can talk to Oman and Ceylon.
